Gentle Eye Makeup Remover
Summary
When it comes to removing my eye makeup I tend to switch between two different removers but both of them are just like water in terms of texture, so this ended up being quite a change for me. You shake it up before use, and then use it as you would a micellar water (applying to a cotton pad, holding over the eyes, wiping away). At first it seems to be almost identical but I find it leaves a slightly oily residue on the skin. I tend to have fairly dry skin so this may actually be slightly better for the eye area for me, I'm not sure. However as it's a texture I'm not used to I felt the need to make sure I got rid of the residue when cleansing my whole face afterwards. It's also scented, not a particularly strong one but makeup remover is not a product I'm used to having scented and I'm not entirely sure as to the purpose. I know people can be sensitive to fragranced skincare and given how sensitive the eye area is I'm not sure I'd recommend it to someone who has trouble in that area. In terms of how well it removed makeup I don't wear waterproof mascara so can't comment on that, but it at the very least equalled my usual removers. However it's not one I'd consider purchasing in the future just because although it's equal in performance, this is significantly more expensive than other products that do the same thing on the market. I feel the main people this will appeal to are those who have dry skin around the eyes and find micellar waters too drying, and those who are specifically looking for natural and vegan skincare products.

perfect for an evening cleanse
Summary

I have an obsession with cleansers. Not sure what it is, they aren't the most exciting item around but I'm constantly on the search to find one that actually does something for me. I have way too many half empty bottles (ok, that's being generous. Most of them I give...

Best lip balm I've ever tried
Summary

There's been a lot of hype surrounding this balm for a while now but it's never been something that I've bothered to look in to. But with the weather getting colder my lips inevitably start to suffer, so I decided to pick this up and see what all the fuss...

Exfoliators and Body Scrubs
Absolutely Gorgeous
Summary
I'm not a huge fan of body care. My beauty obsession started with haircare and moved on to skincare a few years later, but I've never been able to work up much excitement when it comes to things for my body. They're more about function than indulgence. I saw this mentioned on a monthly favourites video a while back and the word Coffee was enough to gain my interest, I then looked it up and saw the price and my interest vanished. Or at least I thought it had. Over the next few months I kept thinking about it but could never really bring myself to make the purchase because the price just seemed too high for me to justify on a body product. Eventually I just had to buy it, it was either going to be a wise decision, or a big regret but either way I'd know and stop obsessively staring at the website xD The first thing that surprised me when it arrived was the size and weight of the thing. It was pricy, but as it's higher end I'd honestly expected it to be smaller and was rather pleasantly surprised by the amount of product in it. It is also in a glass jar. A very heavy glass jar. I have admittedly dropped it once, but it was in my room at the time and on a carpeted floor. Since then I've been a lot more careful with it as I don't know how it would cope on a hard floor, though it does feel pretty solid I really wouldn't like to test it out. The label is plain white with black writing but it looks modern rather than cheap and is something I love to display (it usually lives in my bedroom as it's not something I use daily). I have got the label covered in product and wet in the past but the label wipes clean and there's not been any discolouration/peeling of the label where it's been wet. A small thing but something I really appreciate. Now (finally) on to the actual product. This stuff smells amazing. I love my coffee and that was the main reason I was so attracted to it in the first place, but I was still blown away by the scent. It is strong and most definitely not to everybody's tastes, but I absolutely adore it. It's predictably a very dark colour (think coffee) and quite grainy in texture, but it's not quite as dry as some scrubs and as you should have wet hands as well it becomes almost a paste type texture which is a lot easier to apply to your body and actually stay there (I have experience of many body scrubs that refuse to stick to my skin and just fall off before I can scrub with them). It gives a nice scrub, however it's not quite as harsh as some I've used. If I want a really good scrub for my legs (which get incredibly itchy and do love a nice hard scrub) I still prefer Buffy from Lush, however that is far too harsh for me to use on my arms and upper legs. This is perfect for those and still satisfying to sue on my lower legs. You're meant to use circular motions from your hands & feet towards your heart. I do this (or at least try to) and it's meant to help with lymph flow. Honestly I have no idea if it does or not, but there's no harm in following the instructions. Rinsing off is probably easier in a shower but I've been shower-less for quite a while now so I'm stuck doing it in the bath. You can splash and rub off a decent amount of it in the bath but I'm always left with brown streaks all over myself unless I put in a bit more effort to get it off. And even then I dread to think what my towel would look like after I use it if it was white. Luckily I use a dark blue one and don't have to find out ^^ Then I turn around and look at the bath. There will be bits of it everywhere. When I'm rubbing it in I somehow manage to get it all over the tiles and cover the vast majority of the bath. It hasn't stained anything and does rinse off easily, but I know that's not something most people want to do after a bath. I don't either, but the enjoyment I get out of this scrub outweighs the pain of having to do a quick clean up after my bath. Part of the reason the colour doesn't rinse off super easily is that you're left with a thin layer of oil (at least I assume it's oil given the ingredients) over your body. Not in a bad way, but in a way that feels lovely and indulgent and you can still feel it moisturising your skin hours later. I imagine not everyone is a fan of the sensation of the product still being on you after rinsing it off but I love it. It also means I can be lazy and skip my post-bath moisturising ^^ There are only two negative points for me. This is an indulgent scrub and usually for me that means relaxing, however before I use it I always have the knowledge in the back of my mind that after my bath I'm going to have to give the bathroom a clean and make sure I don't have any nasty looking stains left. But this does mean I use it less often than I would otherwise, meaning it lasts longer. The second negative is the price. £31 is a lot for a body scrub. It really is. But unlike a lot of other pricy purchases I've made in the past, I don't regret this one. This isn't just something you enjoy for half an hour and it's gone. The feel and scent linger with you for hours after and I always feel like I've had such a treat when I use it. Plus the 454g size is pretty generous, especially considering I really don't use that much even when scrubbing most of my body. And then taking in to consideration that I only use it about twice a month honestly I think this could probably last me a year. I will definitely repurchase (though I guarantee I'll still cringe a bit at the price of it) and I do recommend it, but if you don't enjoy that slightly oily feeling left on your skin (slightly oily doesn't seem a very pleasant way to describe it, but I can't find the words to describe the amazing feeling) then this isn't going to be for you. Also as far as I'm aware the only place to purchase this in the UK is Cult Beauty so you're not going to be able to test the scent before hand, and given it's so strong that's probably an issue. It is Cardamom+Coffee, and I've never smelt Cardamom in my life, but it definitely smells of something other than just coffee, so I'm gonna guess it's a pretty strong cardamom scent as well. So if you know what that smells like it's probably helpful xD But if you're looking for an indulgent treat to add to your bodycare and are willing to take a risk on the scent, I honestly can't recommend this enough (as if you hadn't guessed from the essay long review). I've yet to get around to trying anything else from Fig+Yarrow, but I definitely intend to at some point in the future ^^

My first face oil
Summary
I am terrified of oils. There's something about a product with the word oil in it that pretty much causes me to break out in a cold sweat. However I got over my fear and discovered a love for hair oils, so it was about time I tried out a face oil as well. It comes in a black glass bottle with a pump (which makes me incredibly happy, a perfect beauty world would have everything in pump bottles for me xD) and has a little booklet explaining the benefits and more importantly it told me when in my routine to use it. It's a little thing but I can't stress how much I appreciate it. My skincare collection is forever growing but I muddle along with guesswork when it comes to working out when in my routine I'm supposed to use certain products, do I use this before that and after the other or after that and before the other? It's a constant dilemma ;) Directions say one to two pumps, personally I found two to three pumps worked better for me (and as far as I'm aware I don't have a particularly large head). One pump just wasn't enough to distribute over my whole face and with a bit more I felt I could give my face a little massage at the same time. It says it can be used morning and evening, and under makeup it will even out skin tone and reduce shine. I have to say I haven't tested that out given that when I apply it it does temporarily make my face a slightly different colour (the colour of the oil) and I also feel it's probably a little too heavy to use as part of my morning routine. As for the benefits listed I'd say it's definitely worked well on the dryer areas of my skin, though I can't say I've seen any changes in my oily zones. It apparently rebalances the skin's natural hydration system, honestly no idea how to tell if that's happened at all but there's definitely been some hydration benefit and my skin has looked and felt healthier because of it. I would recommend this for dryer skins, but although it's also for combination I have only seen a positive change in the dryer areas of my face. I definitely plan on keeping this in my skincare routine for now, but as it's my first face oil and I wasn't blown away by it I probably would investigate a few others for comparison before deciding if I'd move on to bottle number 2.

Nothing exciting
Summary
It's taken me a long while to get around to trying this just because it's not exactly the most exciting thing around and I've always had other priorities. But as I was ordering something else from the site that stocked it anyway I thought I might as well pop a mini in my basket. The 100ml bottle is adorable and I love anything pink so the simple packaging with a pink lid appealed to me xD As for the product itself, honestly if someone emptied the bottle and pured in my usual makeup remover (the Simple Kind to Eyes Eye Makeup Remover) I really don't think I'd actually notice. The Bioderma was potentially slightly better but maybe that's just because I wanted it to be. If it is better then it's so slightly that I didn't notice a difference even though I've been using the Simple one for absolutely years now. They both look exactly like water and they both remove my makeup. They do both struggle a bit with my liquid liner (takes several attempts for my Urban Decay 24/7 liquid, even more for my Loreal superliner) and even more struggles when it comes to Benefit's They're Real Mascara. As for the price comparison between the two, the Simple one is £3.39 for 125ml and works out at £2.71 per 100ml. The 100ml bottle of Bioderma I purchased was £4.50 but I only purchased that to try it out, if you're going for the 500ml bottle it's £14.50 and £2.90 per 100ml. Obviously this isn't taking into consideration the fact that Simple is quite often on 3 for 2 in Boots. While Simple is cheaper, it's not dramatically so. The Bioderma is a good remover, but I just don't understand such hype when really to me it's the same as the Simple one. There's a possibility that maybe people prefer the ingredients in Bioderma (I pay absoltuely no attention to ingredients, so honestly haven't a clue if they're similar or not) or it's better at removing certain types of makeup (though I wouldn't see why?) but for me they seem to be the same. Saying that I am tempted to buy the 500ml when I run out of both of these, just because I go through my 125ml bottles of Simple so quickly and feel like I'm popping out to buy another one every 5 minutes, but if for whatever reason I can't get hold of it I wouldn't really feel like I was missing out.

Not what I was expecting
Summary
It's been a while since I've used Herbal Essencs but after getting a sample of this and the conditioner I decided to try them. And immediately regretted it. This is supposed to be for damaged hair and my hair definitely falls in to the dry and damaged category, meaning I look for shampoos that feel a little bit conditioning and not overly cleansing. After one wash I had trouble even combing through my hair with my fingers it felt knotty and drier that usual. It also had that squeaky clean feel which I can't stand. After conditioning my hair wasn't as bad, but compared to other shampoos for damaged hair this just highlights how much better they are. Yes it may be one of the cheapest on the market but for me that doesn't equal value for money when I feel I'm using my conditioning treatments to undo what the shampoo has just done.

Purifying bath & shower therapy
Summary
This is the first Bodhi product I've tried, and is actually the first I've heard of the brand at all but I always enjoy trying something new with no idea what to expect from a product ^^ The packaging is simple and while I'm not overly fond of the brown bottles, I do like the simplicity of them and the bright colour label that varies for each product in the range. It's always things like that that tempt me to collect a full range just so I can have them lined up on my shelves xD The first time I used it I poured it directly under running hot water for my bath and was expecting the usual foamy bath. While this did foam, it wasn't as much as I'd usually expect for the amount I poured in, and the bubbles did disappear after a while. But the effects of the bath therapy stay long after the bubbles go. The only way I can think of to describe the way the water felt was silky. You can feel the oils in the water around you and the scent doesn't fade after two minutes. This is definitely not something you want if you're just going for a quick wash, but for a pamper night where you just want to sink in to a hot bath and let your mind wander for a while it's absolutely gorgeous. Afterwards my skin felt lovely and soft and I was relieved that unlike some bath products that have a lasting effect on my skin, it didn't also have an oily effect on my bath. There's nothign worse than relaxing completely in your bath and then realising afterwards you've got to give it a good hard rinse to make sure no one slips from oily residue left behind. I have since also used it as a shower gel type wash and there was nothing wrong with it, but I felt like the rich scent just worked a lot better for me in the bath, I generally prefer lighter fruitier fragrances for my shower. They are a little more on the pricy side for what I'd usually pay for when it comes to my baths, but it's not something I'd use every day and I think for a once weekly relaxing treat it's definitely worth paying a little extra.

A permanent item for my makeup bag
Summary
They've changed the packaging from that displayed and it's now in a squeezy tube (which apparently also contains 10% more product) and this is the one I have. Now lets face it, eyeshadow is not the most glamorous or exciting of makeup products to be buying and I put off buying this time and time again. I also tried cheaper alternatives some of which did absolutely nothing (Rimmel I'm looking at you) so wasn't sure what to expect when I finally got this but after using it I couldn't believe how much difference it made. It does say on the packaging you can use it by itself to even out the eyelid colour. I personally disagree with that as I look incredibly creepy if I just have this on my eyelids, however mine is a slightly peachy shade (there do seem to be a few different ones, I wasn't really paying attention when I bought this) and I'm evry fair skinned, so it doesn't really go, but with eyeshadow this makes no difference. You need the tiniest amount of product, I literally squeeze out the smallest amount I can each morning and it's always enough for both eyelids. I find you don't really need to wait before applying eyeshadow (the first few times I waited so it had time to dry, but I haven't noticed a difference without the wait time). The difference is obvious as soon as you apply the shadow, they appear more pigmented and I find myself using less shadow than before and yet getting a stronger look. But the main benefit is that it lives up to the claim, my shadow lasts all day without a problem and doesn't crease, and that's why I purchased it in the first place. So yeah, you may want to buy a new eyeshadow or something more exciting rather than a primer, but this is one of those products that you don't know what you're missing until you try it. And once you've tried it I highly doubt you'll want to be without it again. I sure won't, this is definitely one of my few products that I'll always repurchase and make sure I'm never without.

I can't fault it
Summary
I chose Naked 2 just for the fact that it was said to be better for cooler toned skins than the original, and while I've still yet to try the original I can't fault this one. Prior to buying this my only experience with Urban Decay shadows were 4 or 5 of the shadows in the little oval compact cases with the fun designs on the outside and mirrors on the inside, though not seen them around in ages so I'm not sure if they even still exist? But all of those I have are in bright colours, highly pigmented and I adore them. So when I think of Urban Decay that's what I imagine so buying a neutral palette from UD was a bit of a change for me, but I couldn't ignore the hype. This has easily become my go-to for daily makeup. It's rare I'll use anything other than this palette for my daily eyeshadow now. The quality of the shadows is amazing, as you'd expect from UD and the variety of colours is brilliant, they're also great to mix and match and blend together. There are shades that I also use as eyeliner, highlighter and for my eyebrows. This palette has so many uses I can't imagine what I did before I had it now. My main worry is that I'm hitting pan on a couple of shades and while I think most of the shades are available individually or have very similar shades available, I believe there are a few exclusive shades. So if you happen to love one of those and finish it you may be left in the awkward position of having to buy another palette which seems a bit of a waste. But I'm really hoping I can find the couple I need individually. Won't be quite as handy as having them all together but without this palette I wouldn't have tried most of these shades so honestly I have no complaints. Which is rare for me ;)

The salt spray that delivers
Summary
This is one of those products that I've almost bought countless times over the years. It's probably the most well known Bumble & Bumble product and yet as many times as I got close to buying it, I never did. Until recently ^^ First impression was the packaging, as I had ordered online I hadn't seen it beforehand but for some reason I'm in love. I assumed it'd be a plain plastic bottle, but it's kind of flexible and rubbery? I later found out through some Bumble & Bumble trivia that it's made out of the same material as scuba gear (or something along those lines) Obviously this makes no difference to the products at all but I feel it adds a nice touch. I have tried other (much cheaper) salt sprays in the past and assumed they'd all be about the same, and when those didn't do much for me it put me off trying this one. However I have to say this is a lot better than any of the cheaper alternatives I've used. You spray it (rather liberally I've found) or damp hair. It then says you can let it dry in the wind or give it a blow dry. I actually just tied my hair up in a messy bun and went to sleep, and I found that worked nicely. I do have a natural wave to my hair that's become less noticeable now my hair's longer and weighs it down (and has probably been forced in to submission by daily straightening) so I'm not sure how much difference this would make if your hair is naturally poker straight. However for me it definitely enhanced my waves and made them a lot more obvious and more curly and I got quite a few compliments on my hair that day. However it did start to fall flat throughout the day, it didn't go straight (my hair is physically incapable of going straight without a lot of heat abuse) but it wasn't as bouncy after a few hours. I also have dry and damaged hair that's kinda frizzy and unsurprisingly this enhances that, especially after I've walked to work and it's been blown around a bit. I'm used to sleeker styles and will probably mess around with this a bit more and possibly try and straighten the top a bit and find a way to make it work for me and look less frizzy (and see if I can find a way for the hold to keep longer) but at the end of the day it's a salt spray and a messy flyaway look is what you expect. I'm just hoping to find a way to make it look a bit more wearable for every day use. It definitely delivers on the beach waves promise and does it far better than cheaper alternatives so if that's the look you're after I'd say it's worth the price tag.

Underwhelming despite the hype
Summary
I have to admit that this cleanser confused me. It doesn't actually say on the bottle whether to use on dry or wet skin and I honestly didn't have a clue to start with o.0 However the main reason I bought it was to go with my Clarisonic (this seems to be the most popular cleanser to go with it) and that does generally need to be damp so I went with that. After looking it up apparently it can work on either dry or damp skin. I've used this both with my Clarisonic and without it but honestly I can't understand the hype. It has a fairly nice scent to it, but nothing special and in terms of actually cleansing my face I don't feel like it did a better job than anything else I've used and actually I probably prefer quite a few others over it. It just seemed fairly average to me. There's nothing wrong with it and I will continue to use it until it's finished, but not something I'd bother repurchasing. I do find it good for my eye makeup though, removes it nicely without stinging my eyes at all, which is a definite plus.

Exfoliators and Body Scrubs
All natural scrub
Summary
I'm big about first impressions and have to admit I was a little underwhelmed by the packaging. When it comes to my beauty products they are an obsession of mine and I like to display them in my room and the bathroom, however this is the kind of packaging that would most likely get hidden behind other things. However I do feel it does reflect the natural/nothing extra ingredients and gives it a handmade touch, rather than a mass produced one. But when it comes to practicality after getting wet (which is obviously going to happen) the labels will be water stained as well. I also found that the sugar would get trapped in the lid and it would be awkward to completely screw the top back on. As for the product itself, I had it in the scent Heavenly Dust which I actually quite liked but have to admit I'm not entirely sure what it smelled of, given that I'm bad with fragrances. I did look at the ingredients to see if that would give me a clue but unfortunately not. However I am incredibly picky with the way things smell and finding something I like is half the battle for me when it comes to body products xD The consistency of the scrub is a little more watery than I'm used to (must of my scrubs have been slightly more solid, I avoid the ones that are basically showergel with a few scrubby beads in them) but I found this to be just right and much easier to apply than the other consistencies of scrubs I've tried. I also noticed that after being rubbed in it turned white and slightly soapy which I don't usually get from my scrubs and made me feel like it was doing a little more than just exfoliating which was nice. The first time I used it I'd had it in the post that day so it had obviously been shaken up and I didn't notice any separation, but the next time the liquid had moved to the top and I hadn't realised until I got in to the bath, but I found just using a finger was more than enough to mix the product back up properly. Overall it was a more gentle scrub than I usually go for, perhaps more suited to upper body because I like a really good scrubby feeling when it comes to my legs and this unfortunately didn't give me that. It didn't leave my skin feeling dry after as some scrubs do, but it also didn't have any lasting moisturised feeling that I noticed either. Overall it was a nice product that I enjoyed using, however it wasn't enough to beat my favourite scrub.

My favourite shampoo
Summary

This is hands down the best shampoo I have ever used in my life. And I've tried a lot (too many) including others from Kerastase. I have long (mid to lower back) hair that I straighten every day and used to dye regularly. Because of this it's...

Summary

I have to say 17 isn't a brand I ever consider buying, it just gets overlooked with all the choice out there. I got this as a free gift or from running up in a competition last year and was actually surprised by how impressed I was with it. ...

Looks and smells nice, didn't do anything for my hair
Summary

I bought the mini of this conditioner to try (along with the matching shampoo) and I'm glad I did, because I'd be very wary about putting this near my hair again. After the S&G shampoo left my hair feeling quite dry I was quite happy at the...

I purchased a mini of this to try because I've had a recent obsession with Soap & Glory body products and wanted to try the haircare range. But given that S&G isn't exactly known for haircare I went for the smaller tube. I really wanted to love...

One of the first things I do with a new product is smell it, as I tend to be quite fussy with smells xD I'd say this was kind of a spicy herbally smell? And I hadn't made the connection before but have to agree with whoever compared it to...

Dark circles remain
Summary

I'm in my early twenties and have already got fine lines around my eyes, but my main problem is my dark circles. I'm very pale and these are very dark and have always been there. Enough so that despite my concealer I feel so self concious about them that I...

Gentle Exfoliator

I'll admit to only having used this product the once, however I found when it came to moisturising it was identical to other Lush massage bars. It melts nicely in to the skin and leaves a nice sheen that stays for a while. And it's a nice moisturising feeling that...

I have to admit I'm pretty surprised to see the low reviews for this. I bought my Tangle Teezer about 5 years ago now and I rarely ever use anything else. While my hair isn't particularly thick it is very dry and damaged and prone to knotting and getting tangled...

Summary

Summary

I've tried a lot of shine shampoos in the past and one thing the majority of them have in common is they give your hair that stripped squeaky 'too clean' feeling. While this had that a bit it was much better than the majority of shine shampoos I've used in...

Summary

When I first got this I was surprised at the size of the tin (I ordered online) it's 8g (though I believe listed as 10g on the Lush website, I was told this weight includes the packaging when I enquired), in comparison to my usual vaseline which is 20g. However...

Summary

Good for blemishes, not so great for dark circles

My main reason for buying this was to try to cover my dark undereye circles, I've been looking for something to cover them for years and have yet to find the perfect concealer to do so. Unfortunately this was not it. I find it tends to highlight a bit under...

My new go-to shampoo
Summary

I'm a huge hair product fan but have never really settled on a shampoo. I picked this up when they were 2 for £7 in Morrisons and I'm so glad I did. A lot of shampoos I've used either seem to sort out my greasy roots but leave the ends...
