I was looking for some after sun gel and happened to me in my funny little bargain shop and spotted this for 50p. I would not normally go for an After sun with glitter in but at that price I thought it would be better than none if I didn't manage to get any somewhere else. I have to say my husband was less than impressed and said he wouldn't be using it.
I had never heard of this brand before and haven't seen it since either. I have looked around and found it on an online chemist and it sells for £3.86 so my 50p was a real bargain.
This is a product that is designed to cool skin that has been exposed to too much sun or just exposed to sun generally. The idea is that the gel will cool the skin rather like cold water cools a burn. If the skin is cooled and moisturised then it is less likely to peel.
Delph Aftersun Gel is created to moisturise and soothe the skin with an ultra gentle rehydrating formula. They have added moisturisers and vitamin E. The other advantage of using an after sun gel is that if you are hoping for a tan then this will help to prolong it as well as reducing the after effects of the sun’s ageing effects.
What I liked about this gel is that is did feel lovely and cool on my skin when I had been in the sun for a day. It was really easily and quickly absorbed into my skin. The cooling and healing effect comes from the aloe vera in this gel.
The gel has been independently DERMATOLOGICALLY TESTED so is suitable for sensitive skin. Although when I studied the ingredients list there do seem to be rather a lot of unnatural ingredients but there is aloe vera and castor oil as well as glycerine and lots of parabens and other chemical sounding stuff.
However despite all that I had no nasty reaction from using this and it did cool my skin. The other thing is that the glitter is not really in your face, it is subtle and just adds a nice touch of sheen to my body. It certainly doesn't make me look like a disco ball and in fact my husband was happy to use this at the end of the day before going to bed after a day in the sun. He said no one except me would see his glittery body and he showered before going out the next day. He did appreciate the cooling effect , if not the glittery one.
This is okay for all skin types and great for a bit of a shine even if you have not been out in the sun so for going out in the evening you could add a touch of this for a bit of highlighting on your arms and shoulders.
You are warned to avoid contact with yours eyes and clothing. The eyes is a stinging issue but I am not sure about the clothes as I think it would wash out and it is pretty clear anyway apart from the glitter.
Well yes, it did the job and for the price I paid I was happy enough. Would I pay nearly £4 ? probably not as they are better ones with more natural aloe vera and the likes if I was paying more. This did the job of cooling, moiturising my skin after spending time in the sun. I can't say I would have chosen the glittery one if I had had a choice but for 50p I felt it was good value.
I am not sure I would go looking for any products by Delph in the future but I wouldn't avoid them either. It is an English company and sold under Fenton Pharmaceuticals which is also English and I am always happy to buy British where I can.
So it did the job, shame about the glitter but it wasn't that bad so I will continue to use what we have left when next in the sun.
