I am not one for using foundations. I find they annoy my skin, in a way that makes me want to wash them off, as I feel my skin can’t breathe.
I got the chance of a trial from YSL on this new foundation. I was skin colour matched by the YSL consultant, at shade BR 30, which was a very natural tone. She applied this foundation, which has a gel based formula, with a foundation brush. You don’t use as much this way and the application is more even. The foundation was very light on the skin, lovely and cool, this is were the gel works well. Its covered effortlessly, giving a lovely bright/illuminating finish, very fresh and natural. I wasn’t ‘orange’ or ‘tanned’ just natural with no obvious imprefections. This is due to the addition of Touche Eclat within this new foundation. It didn’t dry the skin or look matte/dewy or powdery. I did worry that after a while I would want to remove it, but I was very surprised that I lasted all day, never once feeling my skin was suffocating, as it usually does. I liked the look, the finish. I normally only used Mineral makeups rather that fluids. The lightness and natural coverage certainly has me rethinking my makeup. I can see this being one I will, after my 7 day trial pot is finished, be buying. It is a pricey, if you compare with a lot of high street bought brands. But for me, as it doesn’t take a lot to cover, the 30ml should last quite awhile, so the price works. Mostly for me it’s the fact that I was able to wear this and not notice it on through the day. It just looked good
