I am not really one for hair 'products' as my hair dresser calls them. I always use shampoo and conditioner and do like a serum but as I tend to dry my hair smooth I haven't really got into using putty or other products for the tousled look.

I was having my usual browse and chat to the folk I Lush when shopping in Derby and they always like to show me what is new in the shop and I usually get a sample or two as they know I am a good customer and spend a small fortune in there.

Although I have some quibbles with their use of parabens and some SLS etc I do really admire the company and how strongly they are committed to Fair trade, non animal testing and supporting small projects not only by giving to charities but also by buying ingredients from small groups.

This was not really a product that I thought I had any need for but I was happy to be shown what it does and then receive a sample in one of the face mask pots to take home with me to try using it myself.

Firstly the smell is absolutely lovely and because you don't rinse after applying this the scent stays in your hair which I love. It is a sort of fresh, sweet orange blossom sort of smell

The idea is that you spray this from a non aerosol spray bottle but as mine was a smaple squited into a pot I had to apply mine with my fingers. If you sprayed it on your hair your could then tousle it with your fingers to get the lift and texture you want. I had to sort of rub my fingers through my hair and then lift and scrunch. It can also be used as a light hair spray which I think is probably more what I will do when I buy the spray. I am not keen on really strong hair sprays but I do like a sheen and hold sort of spray and this does it well when I tried it in the shop.

I think this would be great for those with fine thinner hair to give a bit of lift and volume. I don't need the volume but do like a bit of lift at the front and top of my hair and I found this did quite a good job of lifting if I used this as soon as I had washed and dried my hair. The next day it had very little effect when I tried.

I especially like the fact that this does not make my hair tacky or greasy or feel like it has glue on it. If I brush my hair at the end of the day then the sea spray brushes out and you can't tell that I put it in at all which I like. I hate it when you have to wash your hair every day because the products you put in have weighed your hair down and made it feel heavy and dirty.

If my hair needs a bit of freshening up then this does a great job as it doesn't add anything greasy or cloggy but does add fresh and scented lifting. I find that it gives a lovely shine to my hair as well as making it smell good.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

There is Carrageenan Extract which is sea weed and that is there for texture and also to add condition to your hair. The Sea Water and sea salt give the lift and texture to your style. Glycerine presumably gives the shine, The scent comes from perfume, Neroli Oil, Grapefruit Oil and Rosewood Oil all help give the lovely scent.

IS IT ALL GOOD THEN?
Sadly not, this does have parabens in it and also has some ingredients that sound less than natural to me but may well be okay.

RECOMMENDED?

Yes I would say this is my sort of hair product. It smells great, add lift and shine and gentle hold but brushes out when you want to get rid of it. It also adds a bit of condition and shine to your hair from the seaweed extract and of course salt adds lift and is stimulating, cleansing, antiseptic and astringent. It has the added benefit of softening the scalp skin while giving hair more volume and lift.

I love it when people comment and say your hair smells nice and of course even better when they say it looks and smells great!
