I'm a huge hair product fan but have never really settled on a shampoo. I picked this up when they were 2 for £7 in Morrisons and I'm so glad I did. A lot of shampoos I've used either seem to sort out my greasy roots but leave the ends drier, or are gently and moisturising on my ends but my hair gets greasy soon after.
This is the best of both worlds and after using it my hair always feels really clean and soft. As for the detangling claims I definitely think it helps with that. Because my ends are so dry they get incredibly knottty and tangled, but after using this I can brush straight through with my Tangle Teezer.
For the price I honestly don't think it can be beaten for my hair type, I've tried a lot of shampoos from various price ranges and I actually prefer this to a lot of the more expensive ones I've tried. I've never been particularly impressed with a shampoo and although this didn't transform my hair or anything, it cleaned it well, left it feeling soft and easy to manage and that's all I'm after in a shampoo and I can see this staying my go-to shampoo for quite a while now.
And as for the Full Repair range itself, definitely my favourite John Frieda Shampoo, Conditioner and Masque.
My hair was in very good condition some years ago. It was very long, healthy and easily manageable. It was before the years of regular colouring and styling. I usually colour my hair monthly, but I try to do it less often, because after colouring my hair is like a wire, ends are split and very dry.
I was very upset about the quality of my hair. First I thought I would shorten it, but I have extremely long hair since 10 years, so I think my hair is part of my personality. I do not want to shorter my personality.
I started actively check and try hair care products. I am happy to try samples.
I realised, that my hair needs oils. First I thought that hydration is the most important treatment for damaged hair. I tried more hair masks without a big success. First I was concerned to use oils. I thought oils will do my hair heavy and look like greasy all the time.
I use oils before washing my hair. I leave oils on my hair for 1 hour, and then I normally wash it and use conditioner. The result is great, but the process is really long, suitable for weekend but not for busy working days and after the swimming pool.
John Frieda Full Repair with non-greasy Inca Inchy Oils is the perfect product for me. I don’t need oil anymore, because my shampoo and conditioner contains it. So I can save 1 hour every second day, because I wash my hair fortnightly. This means 3-4 hours per week.
John Frieda products are not cheap, but I don’t need to buy expensive oils, so I think the money what I spend for my hair care products remains the same.
Now my hair is healthier, easy to comb, shiny. The colour does not fade quickly, so I did not experience any side effects of the products.
After first hair washing I should use more styling products, because my hair was softer and slippery than before, but I have got quickly used to it.
I was expecting more from this new range by John Frieda. There are many well known brands adding oils to their products now. This shampoo from John Frieda claims to contain micro-oils that nourish, protect and detangle the hair. The shampoo is a medium consistency product that is highly concentrated so you only need a small amount per application. It lathers well and rinses away easily. The scent is pleasant with a fresh floral fruity smell that does not linger overpoweringly in the hair. After rinsing I did not find that this shampoo helped to detangle my hair at all. Obviously you would ever rely on just a shampoo to detangle but its claim to give you this benefit is unfounded. After drying my hair did feel soft and look shiny but I personally saw no huge benefits from this shampoo
