Directions

Because different parts of your hair take in colour differently, Vidal Sassoon created Salonist, a revolutionary 2-step method that treats your roots and lengths separately. The result is stunning, seamlessly blended colour with lots of depth and tones.
- PREP: To begin, empty Tube 1 and Bottle 1 into the bowl and mix until smooth.
- PRO TIP: For long, thick hair use two boxes of Salonist 8/0 Medium Neutral Blonde hair colour.
Then, using the tip of the brush to part your hair, divide it into ½-inch sections along the hairline.
- STEP 1: BRUSH ROOTS:Take ¾ of your mixture and brush the rich 8/0 Medium Neutral Blonde colour cream into your hairline. Massage your roots to ensure even coverage.
Because 8/0 Medium Neutral Blonde is a standard shade, leave the colour in for 20 minutes.
Prep for Step 2 by adding the Sassoon Serum in Tube 2 to the colour cream still in the bowl. There should be about ¼ left.
PRO TIP: If you did not use ¾ of the product in Step 1, remove the excess product before adding serum.
- STEP 2: BLEND THROUGH LENGTHS: Scoop the new mixture out of the bowl and smooth and blend thoroughly through your hair, all the way to the ends. Massage the colour all over, even at the roots, for the best coverage.
Because 8/0 Medium Neutral Blonde is a standard shade, wait 10 minutes.
- FINISH: Wash hair with a colour-safe shampoo, rinse and then apply Salonist Colour Preserving Conditioner. Leave in for two minutes, then rinse again.
- PRO TIP: Use Colour Preserving Conditioner for everyday washes to make colour last longer.

Summary
I received this item as a sample to try. On opening the box you really feel like you get value for money with the contents. I expecially liked the inclusion of the colour preserving conditioner. As I hadn't coloured my hair for ages I followed a slightly different procedure to the one on the leaflet. It is necessary to plan for this as you need to look it up on their website for special instructions. I found the procedure a bit fiddly, but not unmanageable to carry out. I have found that, about three months on, the colour has still lasted and not paled. I am impressed that the quality is good from a home colour kit.

I was lucky enough to be chosen by TRnd to test this range of hair colour free and share my experience using it and share a couple of extra ones with friends and relatives.

I chose this colour as I wanted to go a little lighter for summer and my hair is a darkish blonde usually. I dye my hair to cover grey coming through as lighter shades at the front of my hair so dyeing balances it all to look the same colour all over.

I followed the instructions to the letter from the pre allergy test through to the mixing , the dividing my hair and applying to the roots then the next stage where the serum was added to the dye and applied the the rest of my hair.

The entire process took just a bit longer than 30 minutes as I had to wash it off as instructed and so on.

I found the result to be good and the colour true and natural looking. It was a bit more fiddly that other dyes I have used but the end result was good.

I would be happy to use this again but I also like other brands and I am not sure this is that much better than other brands which take less time to use.
