What are B.B. creams?
B.B. creams (short for Blemish Balm) are hybrid products which combine the benefits of skincare and make-up in one.
Initially developed by a German dermatologist in the 1950s, to soothe skin and provide coverage, B.B. Creams were made famous in South Korea by an actress famed for her beautiful skin.
Over the following years, they became a cult must-have product across Asia due to their sheer, flawless finish and their “all-in-one” qualities. It’s especially popular in South Korea, where BB creams account for 13 per cent of the mass-market make-up sector.
Now, Garnier bring you their first B.B. cream, the Garnier B.B. Cream Miracle Skin Perfector.
What are the benefits of the Miracle Skin Perfector?
The balm works as an all-in-one, super dooper, anytime, anywhere skincare solution for perfected skin.
It claims to be a moisturiser, sun block, primer and a foundation: It brightens skin in the same way a primer does, evens out complexion like a lightweight foundation, covers blemishes like a concealer, has the hydrating properties of a moisturiser, soothes skin like an anti-inflammatory, contains UV protection — so no need for sunblock — and has the sort of anti-ageing ingredients more commonly found in serums.
Use it on its own, use it as a primer, when you get up, after the gym, a post-work touch up, pre-date beautifier… the list is endless.
Shakila Bik, Garnier’s scientific adviser says:
‘The heritage of BB creams has always been about soothing.'
‘And that’s something we concentrated on. We’ve incorporated technology that offers intense moisturisation'.
‘We’ve also tested it on women who suffer from redness, who expressed a preference for it over a conventional tinted moisturiser.’
Garnier is to give away 173,300 samples of their new Miracle Skin Perfector to the first 173,300 people who apply. This promotion involves a free sample pack including 3, 1.5ml sachets. The BB cream is hitting the UK this summer and is set to be this year’s biggest beauty trend.
