The first fragrance from Illamasqua, Freak is a concoction of dangerously exotic unconventional flowers that Illamasqua has unashamedly blended together to celebrate the night. The intoxicating scent includes notes of Black Davana, Belladonna, Poison Hemlock and Queen of the Night.
Top Notes: Black Davana, Opium Flower and Belladonna bewitch the senses into uncontrollable lust and passion.
Heart Notes: Poison Hemlock, Datura and Queen of the Night blossom, caress and kiss.
Base Notes: Aromas of Frankincense, Oud and Myrrh, addictively mesmerises and captures the senses.
A wonderfully quirky perfume. Needs to be reapplied fairly regularly as it is not very long-lasting.
Wonderful dark fragrance.
Not very long-lasting.
Despite the list of poisonous plants in the list of flowers, this fragrance must use nature-identical sources, as they are not listed in the actual ingredients of the perfume. It is fabulously dark, yet fresh.
Clever, mysterious, sexy and darkly dangerous. Quite unlike any other
A mesmerising and clever fragrance with unusual exotic flowers, Frankincense and Myrrh. Not overpowering and has excellent longevity. Fantastic, haunting black bottle design, with tilted base and plated snail charm on the side
I managed to sample this new scent by Illamsqua at Selfridges yesterday and I am completely hooked! This is quite unlike anything I have smelled before and I will try my hardest to describe it. Firstly I was captivated by the bottle which is an opaque black design with slanted base giving the design a tilted feature. The bottle has what assume are embossed ‘slug trails’ on the side with a black cubic lid and silver snail charm on the side. This gives the whole design a dark and dangerous twist quite unlike any other and indicative to the scent inside. On application you get top notes of a bitter, almost copper like note with an underlying sweetness of exotic florals. The copper note makes me think of blood (don’t panic) and this is a clever note to enhance the Freak nature of the scent. The middle notes develop into a medium sweet fragrance with a slightly alcoholic edge to it. I cannot distinguish which flowers give these middle notes as they are so exotic and unfamiliar to me. The dry down takes a while but at the base there is a slightly peppery feel but not spicy. I assume this is the Frankincense & Myrrh which gives the finish a warm and mysterious feel. With such heady ingredients you would expect this fragrance to overpowering but it is quite the latter. It is cleverly balanced to give a hard hitting but subtle scent. This has to be tried to understand the fragrance and it will not be everyone but it is clever, mysterious, sexy and darkly dangerous. I really would love this one for my dressing table
