A product that will win you over, for just being good.
A full range of Ethical values. The package style is quite appealing, very easy to handle and dispense serum. A great price for 100ml
None that I can think of. Maybe lack of promotion?
Refining Serum from Skin Revivals! This was a brand I hadn’t heard of, which is a shame as they seem to have ticked all the ethical boxes for this products, as with all their other products in the range. I have used lots of ‘high-end’ serums and ones with a hefty price tag! This inexpensive serum is a thrilling find. I am saying this now, but at the start of my trial, I was quite unconvinced on its active benefits.
The first few days of my trial, I found the serum, which in appearance is a very light lotion, not like other serums which are a honey gel like consistency, or clear. The lightness of this serum, was pleasant, I applied it and found it absorb very fast into my skin. I wasn’t sure if this was a weakness in the lightness of the serum, or what was to be expected! My first instincts where that it was a very light moisturiser,. My reason for this was that it did tighten, giving me the feeling I would get if I had used a moisturiser that was far to mild for my skin, but was meant for a more youthful skin requiring less hydration.
I kept on with my usage on a daily basis, using a good quantity to cover face, neck etc. The tightening or toning effect was consistant everyday. With the regular use of this serum, I began to find I was being won over, my scepticism was changing. I started to notice my skin felt smoother, I don’t have large pores, but to feel a gentle smoothness is a great boost to using any serum. The fine lines at the side of my eyes became lighter, smoother. The under eye area seems less patchy, I don’t have dark circles, but the fine skin in this area can seem a little dull, but the use of this serum seemed to brighten that area.
I stopped using the serum for a few days, but found I went right back to it, as my skin showed signs of a lack of tone and brightness. My journey/trial with this serum has been an up and down road in the beginning but like most products you have to stick with it, the benefits are there, but only with longevity in use. I am glad I had this chance to use Refining Serum by Skin Revivals, as it has completely won me over, which I never thought it would. This is a serum that is gentle and effective, with no harsh chemicals to worry about. Just a light toning serum with lots of good natural ingredients. The scent of this serum is one I did like from the start. Then again, I do like Ylang Ylang oil. I would definitely recommend this lovely serum to others, who want to be able to enjoy the good properties that can be found in using it, the toning, firming, gentle look to fine lines and the brightness, it gives to the skin. all for a great price. This is a serum that can be bought regularly unlike ‘high-end’ brands which can be a big ‘dent in the pocket’ purchase.
I am always excited to trial new serums especially if they are organic and lacking the usual harsh and debatable chemicals that many well known brands adorn their skincare with nowadays. When it comes to organic products it is always a thrill to me to find skincare that actually works without the need for man-made additives.
This serum is perfect for my ageing skin range and I have been using it twice daily (once in the evening and once in the morning) underneath my usual organic moisturiser. I have seen some interesting results without a short space of time and although these results are not dramatic, I have been very pleased with the performance of this serum. The packaging is a semi flat, robust squeezable bottle with a tight fitting twist cap and precision applicator. The design is simple and effective for the product within. The precision applicator makes it very easy to dispense your product without the risk of expelling too much from the tube. When dispensed the serum is a medium consistency white fluid that is easily squeezed from the tube. I found that it took a few days to experiment with the amount of serum needed per application and eventually settled on a pea size amount for the face and the same again for the neck and décolleté. The serum is not as easy to apply as other serums due to its texture when it meets the skin. Where as many serums have a very effective ‘glide’ consistency, this serum seems to disappear into the skin with remarkable rapidity and thus, starting in one area with the whole amount is unwise. I found that lightly distributing the product between the fingertips first makes it easier to apply to the whole face. The fragrance is very subtle, and difficult to describe. There is a definite floral, although I find it difficult to detect the Ylang Ylang and a slightly fresh twist. The scent soon dissipates after application.
On the subject of the of application I mention the nature of how rapidly the serum is absorbed into the skin. This is quite remarkable for a serum and you need to work quickly to ensure even application. Your skin readily absorbs the product and there is a subtle tightening feeling. This is not a ‘dry tight’ feel but more a toning effect that is instantaneous. My only dislike (albeit a very small dislike) is that after application the feel of my complexion for approximately half an hour after application is quite similar to having applied a sunscreen product. The serum does not cause excess oil production or block the pores but I would prefer a serum with a lighter feel on the skin.
The results are rapid but do not seem to improve over time. You have the instant tightening and toning effect and there most certainly is a notable difference in my fine lines, especially after the night time application. The serum plumps, hydrates and smoothes the skin and I like the antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties of the white tea and rosehip extracts. After 2 weeks I have not yet used half of the tube and considering this is a ‘travel size’ product I think the value for money is excellent! The serum has also had a calming effect on any hormonal breakouts in my complexion.
All in all I am very impressed with this product as an anti-ageing serum and I would not hesitate to use it again, however, I am not keen on the residue feel of my skin after use and would prefer to use this as a night time serum only. For an organic product this has surprising and pleasing effects and I would not hesitate to recommend it for its performance in general.
Highly concentrated with subtle pleasant fragrance. Organic and paraben free. Simple and robust packaging with precise nozzle applicator. Long lasting. Instant firming and smoothing action. Anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties.
Slight heavy residual feeling on the skin
A rapidly effective serum for ageing skin with notable benefits on fine lines. Organic and long lasting making this serum excellent value for money
I have now had this for a few weeks and have used it regularly. The packaging is simple but quite classy in a way - think Clarins and Origins rather than Benefit or Soap and Glory. The ingredients providing the tightening and brightening are rosehip and white tea and it does certainly feel as though my skin is being tightened, not sure I especially like the feel though. When I touch my skin it feels kind of clammy and that is the effect I am not so keen on.
I love all the ethic and paraben free things about this and would recommend it for its tightening and I do still apply a gentle moituriser after putting this on as I do with other serums and then my face feels less clammy.
t is a tricky one because I do like the fact my skin is tightened but I am not keen on the feel of my skin to touch.
For a natural product I think the price is actually quite reasonable compared to some brands.
It does feel as though it is tightening my skin
Leaves my skin feeling slightly clammy to the touch
An effective, simple serum that tightens but not sure about the brightening.
