Description

Lush don’t like making claims about holding back aging – because let’s face it, they can’t. But they do think that putting carefully selected, wonderful ingredients onto mature skin can have benefits. It won’t make you younger – but it will make the best of the skin you have.
In here they have ginseng and green tea for their antioxidant effects. Fresh wheatgrass for its natural superoxide dismutase (SOD) – which are free radical scavengers.
Rich, softening ingredients like linseed, eggs, evening primrose oil, shea butter, lanolin, coconut oil and honey to be soothing and moisturising. Clays of kaolin and talc will help clean the skin and papaya will help dissolve dead skin cells.
This is a serious, complex mask to give maximum benefits for those who know that a little extra help and care will keep their skin at the height of its game.
All Lush fresh face masks are preservative-free and should be stored in the fridge. If ordering outside the UK, longer delivery times may affect the quality of the product, so this may not be a good choice for overseas customers. You may like to try Mask of Magnaminty instead , as this does not require refrigeration.

Directions

Cleanse your face and pat dry. Smooth a good dollop of fresh face mask over your entire face, making sure to avoid the eyes and mouth. Leave the mask on for about ten minutes (do not let the mask dry completely). Now is a good time to read the latest Lush Times… Wash off with warm water, follow with your favourite toner and moisturizer.

Once again on of my many visits to my favourite Lush store in the Westfield Centre in Derby I took back five of their black plastic pots cleaned and washed out and ready for recycling. As my reward I could choose one of their delicious looking, almost edible fresh face packs. I always have such trouble choosing which one as they are all so great but this time I chose ‘The Sacred Truth’ as once again I was rather too aware that my rather mature skin needed a bit of help as it felt a bit dry and this was recommended.
THE FACE PACKS GENERALLY
In the shop the various face mask are in big stainless steel bowls on ice and presented with fresh items that are in the actual face mask as garnish; so this one had some cut papaya as garnish. The face packs are made fresh in the Derby shop for their use only. Other products are made down in the factory in Dorset and brought in to the shop.

As these are made with fresh ingredients they have a limited life and must be stored in the fridge. I have once had two face packs as I was given one in the shop and because we were just about to go on holiday I stuck it in the freezer. We were away about four weeks and when I returned I retrieved my face mask and it was absolutely fine, it lasted another six weeks in the fridge and smelled great and I used it once a week for the six weeks. So don’t worry too much about the keeping aspect as they do last a fair time if kept in the fridge and used with clean fingers or a spoon to get the stuff out.

WHAT IS THIS SACRED TRUTH ONE LIKE?
According to Lush “The sacred Truth is that your skin needs more regular maintenance and care as you get older”. Sad but it is true I am discovering as my skin is definitely losing its elasticity and firmness. As we get older our skin has more trouble retaining moisture and so we get that slightly dull sallow look.
It comes in a small back recyclable pot and you get 75g in the pot. The cost if you buy it is £5.50 which is quite expensive but I don’t think I have bought one for quite a while as I have had free ones through bringing back my black pots.
This face mask is a rather dull sage green marshy ooze looking colour, about the same as a stagnant mud pool I suppose but smooth not lumpy. It is a little lighter in colour than Ayesha and feels much smoother.

It is very thick rather like a paste, thick texture and not at all runny. It isn’t as thick as some and because it is so smooth it does spread very easily and quite thinly. It smoothes on with a slight creamy feel and is quite smooth and silky in texture though and spreads as thin or thick as you like.

What does it smell like? Well it is a very mild smell very pleasant a mixture of sweet fruit and a very slightly earthy/herby smell. The smell is really hard to describe as it really isn’t that strong, it is very fresh, slightly fruity and I wish I could find something that smelled similar.

WHAT DO YOU DO WITH IT?
Well when I use my facepack I always start with clean skin and so I use a cleanser to wipe away any grime of the day. And in my case it has to be a Lush cleanser called 9 to 5 as I really like this one and find it quite gentle.
Next stage is one I was advised to add by the girl in the Lush shop one day and that is to give my face a feed with a serum and the one I use is a great little bar of serum called ‘Full of Grace’. This ensures that your face doesn’t get too dried out and feeds it while you are having the facemask. If you have not got this lovely serum then any moisturiser will do but this face mask needs it less than others as it has lots of lovely shea butter and linseed which feeds and moisturises the skin.

Then open the pot of facemask and spread it all over your face except around the eyes. If the mask has dried out at all then you can help it by wetting my hands to smooth it on.

According to Lush you shouldn’t let it go completely dry and crusty before washing it off but I leave mine until dry as I usually get in the bath and lie there. If it does get dry then it doesn’t matter as I can use lots of water to gently wash it off.

I then get out of the bath and dry myself patting my face dry before I reach for the toner to close those pores and then of course moisturise as for night or day depending on when you use it.

WHAT DOES IT FEEL LIKE?
As I lie in the bath I can’t really smell anything much except a slight sweetness from this one at all. I really relax and lie back and feel the benefits of this mask. I love the way my skin feels fed after this one and find my skin feels very soft but a little firmer. The fine lines are slightly less noticeable but the wrinkles are still there but it just looks tighter and I feel like I have had a deep clean too. I am past the age when I suffer from spots but I do think that the green teal and pawpaw help clean my pores and they look less big and open and my face generally slightly tighter.

I have quite a sensitive skin and am allergic to many cosmetic chemicals but this has not given me any problems and I have used at least four pots over the last two years. I do like a change so don’t always get the same one.

WHAT GOODIES ARE IN THIS ONE?
The ingredients in this one are a blend of talc, kaolin, shea butter, ginko leaf and brown linseed infusion, free range eggs, wheat grass, papaya, green tea, ginseng root, evening primrose oil, ylang ylang, bee pollen and so much more. If you are really wanting the full list then if you go to the Lush website they are listed. This combination of ingredients is rather interesting and each is there for a different purpose, papaya and green tea are famous for their brightening and anti oxidants, shea butter, linseed and lanolin are great moisturizers to feed an older dry skin. Green tea is also soothing as it kaolin so a real good recipe for feeding an older skin.

We have ylang ylang, rose absolute, rosewood oil and lavender essential oils so that is why this has such a lovely smell but it is quite subtle and there is definitely a herby scent too which may be ginseng, green tea and ginko leaf I suppose.

The ingredients in this are supposed to give a good feed to your skin. The anti –oxidant action of the wheat grass, ginseng and green tea gets rid of any nasties built up in the skin. Papaya has been used by the Aborigine people are a healer for years and now experts agree that papaya is rich in antioxidants such as vitamin C, flavinoids and carotenes, and it contains an enzyme called"Papain" which can help banish dead skin cells and clear impurities. It is a magic fruit and it Is such a shame that it doesn’t travel better so we can enjoy it more in this country. The enzymes in the papaya really do help rebuild skin cells and are a leading ingredient in skin whitening products and also have restorative properties that can help soften the skin and give a smoother appearance.

I have found it really helps to keep my skin clear and fresh looking. I tend to use mine in the morning. Usually Monday mornings usually as my husband goes off to play golf early in the morning so I have time to myself to pamper in the bathroom. However this one I also use in the afternoon if we are going out because it is a kind of mini face lift. It smooths the fine lines for a few hours before they creep back in.

WOULD I RECOMMEND?
Yes I love this one as it is a face mask that really does smooth those tiny fine lines and laves my face feeling soft and moist. This is not a magic potion so it is product to help care for your skin rather than a chemical face lift. The smell is really lovely, fruity and slightly herby I wish I could describe the smell better it also has a really creamy fell to it. It does make my skin feel well fed and it feels nice and soft and a bit smoother too so I am happy. I am especially happy as it was free although it does cost £5.50 if you don’t have five pots to hand back. This is still quite good value as easily get six uses from this little pot as you don’t need to cake it on thickly at all.

This fresh mask is so refreshing and cooling on your skin,it looks and smells delicious.
i left ity on for 15 minutes and once it was washed off it left my skin feeling soft and nourished.
The lush fresh face masks need to be kept in the fridge and that maskes them so cooling and refreshing once they are applied
