With winter now leaving us and our thoughts turn to warmer weather and booking our holidays I wanted to recommend to you one of my favourite summer products!
I am a huge fan of tan accelerators and this one by Elemis not only works but conditions your skin at the same time! For those of you that have not discovered tan accelerators yet they are fabulous and effective products. When you skin is exposed to natural sunlight it begins to push the natural melanin produced by the skin cells to the surface. It can normally take up to 3 days for this process to complete and as we age this process slows down even more. During this time your skin is largely unprotected by the harmful sun’s rays and this is the point that most of us experience sunburn. Tan accelerators actually boost the melanin production in the skin and aids you to miss out the susceptible days when the skin is trying to protect itself naturally. In short you can 'skip' the tanning curve.
This is what Elemis says about this product
"Prepare the body for exposure to the sun by stimulating its natural melanin production. Fragrant Tahitian Gardenia and Jojoba Oil leave skin beautifully conditioned. Elemis Tan Accelerator is Excellent for both sun-sensitive skin and for prolonging your tan."
How to Use for Elemis Tan Accelerator SPF4?
"Apply Tanning Accelerator to the body daily about 2 weeks before your vacation or summer arrives."
Highlighted Ingredients: Vitamin E, Shea Butter, Macadamia Nut Oil, Jojoba, Glucose Tyrosinate.
This tan accelerator by Elemis comes in a beautiful metallic gold soft squeeze tube with a silver lid and is 125ml in size. The tube is 100% recyclable. It normally retails at around £19.00.

The product is a runny consistency cream which is a light beige colour. The scent is actually quite pleasant with extracts of fragrant Tahitian Gardenia. It is a sweet and delicate fragrance. It also contains Vitamin E, Shea Butter, Macadamia Nut Oil and Jojoba to moisturise the skin and nourish the skin. I use this product daily for 4 weeks before my holidays, although Elemis states that you should begin 1-3 weeks before. Application is really easy and your skin absorbs the product beautifully. Your skin is left with a dewy glow with no traces of greasiness or sticky reside. It also leaves your skin beautifully soft, smooth and moisturised.

Once you reach your sunny holiday destination you will find that you do not burn the way you normally would without treatment. This is of course providing you are sensible. This product does contain an SP4 but it is not designed to replace your normal high factor sun protection. This should be applied in conjunction with this product. I continue use throughout my holiday and on my return. In doing so this prolongs my tan dramatically in comparison to normal moisturising.
If you have never tried a tan accelerator before I would highly recommend this product. It may not be the cheapest option but it contains no harsh chemicals or parabens and does a superior job of speeding up and deepening the tanning process without endangering your precious skin in the process.
I can highly recommend this product!!
