Overall I love the scrub. I received it in the Pink Grapefruit Scent, the scent is very natural and reminds me of Grapefruit and Sandalwood essential oils combo. I thought it would be a regular sugar in oil scrub, but it has some castile soap in it, so it gives nice creamy foam. It cleanses well without greasy feeling, that is important for me since it's summer, and I just don't like the feeling of heavy oils on my skin in hot weather. The scrub is quite mild, so it won't help with rough areas or ingrown hairs, but it's great for maintaining your body in good condition.
I didn't like the packaging - it's a plastic jar with a screw-on lid and cheap looking label. For it's price and quality I would expect something clearly speaking that this product is not cheap!
I also think the product needs some improvement in its texture. I would like more sugar / less liquid so it won't separate and I won't need to mix it before each use. Since I use it in the shower I have to wipe my wet hands with a towel so I don't add any water into the jar. You know, you should be careful with natural products, and any added water can make it going bad. This is not convenient and can keep the customers away from repurchasing the scrub.
The packaging was very basic, which I normally wouldn't mind, but as the scrub was quite runny it affected how easy it was to use without making a mess.
The texture of the scrub was great at first, but as it was sugar which was the abrasive this dissolved very quickly and I only got around 10-30 seconds of actual scrub with each area. This product would be great for every day use, if you were looking for a scrub that you could use once every week or so this product probably wouldn't be for you.
There was a nice amount of lather from the soap but an oily residue was left, I had to use a body wash to remove the oily feeling.
The scent was lovely, cranberry is one of my favorite smells and this was just the right scent strength. I personally don't think I would buy this product but for someone who wants a nice smelling 100% product which supports small businesses it is a good product.
I was thrilled to have the opportunity to trial a body scrub as scrubs have always been and will always be an essential part of my weekly beauty regime. Combined with the fact that it is a 100% natural in ingredients I was very excited to try this new product. The ethic of the company is great and I was thrilled to try the Jasmine Scrub of this range as this is a solid favourite fragrance of mine.
I am always loathe to write a poor review on a product as I always look at all aspects of the product before making a firm decision on its effectiveness. Sadly when the scrub arrived I was somewhat stunned at the packaging. The pot itself has a screw top black lid which in itself is highly effective in the fact that it does not allow the oil inside to leak. The seal is good and tight. It was the labelling that was the biggest let down for me. I believe that half the battle is won when promoting the product with its design. If the packaging is aesthetically pleasing it encourages the consumer to try the product inside. I found the design uninspiring and a little amateur in its design. Although I appreciate that whole ethic of handmade beauty products, the labels have been printed on an inkjet printer and are uncentered at best. The labels on my pot were peeling off when I unwrapped my product and had been applied to the pot quite haphazardly. This is a real shame as it does not inspire immediate confidence on the product within.
Inside there is lovely, thick consistency, slightly off white mix of sugar grains, extra virgin coconut oil,100% pure vitamin E oil, Grapeseed, Sweet Almond, Avocado, Jojoba, Lemon and Safflower Oils. This is an impressive mixture of natural oils that are all effective in their own rights. The sugar grains are of course too heavy for natural suspension in the oil but the label clearly states that you should mix the product first. The fragrance was very nostalgic for me. It took me back to my hippy days of incense. It is not a pure jasmine scent but not unpleasant at all. In fact the fragrance increases when applied to the skin but does not linger after rinsing.
I have always preferred a harsher scrub as I have quite resilient skin and I like to feel the action of the grains for a deep down cleanse. With the sugar grains I had high hopes initially. As with all scrubs I like to trial them on completely wet skin in the shower and then on slightly damp skin for more a more intensive treatment. With so many high hopes for this little pot, sadly I began to see failings as soon as I stepped in the shower. The labels began to peel of the pot and the lid label soon went for a swim in the shower tray. I mixed the scrub as instructed and spread a healthy dollop of product between my palms which I then carefully but firmly massaged onto my wet skin. The fragrance hits you immediately which I found really nice and almost immediately the product reacts with the water and gives a milky residue on the skin. The oils provide a wonderful cushion to the sugar grains and gave an indulgent feel to the skin whilst massaging. Now I have not seen this comment from anyone else so far but the biggest disappointment of the scrub came next. The sugar grains seemed to melt and completely disappear during the massage?! I do have very warm skin most of the time and it may have been ill suited to my body heat but I was saddened by the fact that the scrub quickly transformed to an in shower oil treatment where I felt little benefit for the removal of dry and rough skin. I then decided to try this product next time around on slightly damp skin. This seems to help and I didn't least get the natural sloughing effect of the sugars. Once rinsed away my skin was left feeling soft and moisturised but I cannot state that it was glowing. I think that this mix of sugars and oils are not suited to my skin type. I also noted that 2 applications took me almost halfway down the pot so ml for ml I did not find this good value for money.
All in all I was sadly a little disappointed with this product. The fragrance is pleasant and the oils do their job well but as a scrub I found it quite ineffective on my skin type. I have since added some natural sea salt to the jar to elongate its usage and effectiveness. Maybe it would be a good choice to have both a sugar and salt version of this scrub for different skin types. Whilst I am always thrilled to try a new product and I always aim to give an honest and informative review, I sadly would not be encouraged to purchase this product in future. It may be better suited to those that prefer a ‘barely there’ mild scrub.
